The Spectre of Terror: Bangladeshi Militancy in West Bengal

The presence of Bangladeshi terrorist groups in West Bengal has emerged as a grave concern for national security. Intelligence reports and sporadic incidents point towards the infiltration of these extremist organizations, primarily originating from Bangladesh. This disturbing trend poses a multifaceted threat to India's internal security, economic stability, and regional peace. The porous border between India and Bangladesh offers fertile ground for the movement of militants. The lack of adequate border infrastructure and manpower makes it difficult to effectively monitor and control cross-border activities. Exploiting this vulnerability, terrorist groups like the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and the Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami Bangladesh (HuJI-B) have established a foothold in the state. The presence of these groups has been linked to various acts of violence, including bombings, targeted killings, and recruitment drives. Their aim is to destabilize the region, instigate...

Begging bowls for Kolkata doctors says Bangladeshi leader

Against the backdrop of the strained relations between India and Bangladesh with the minority Hindu community being persecuted brutally, a Bangladeshi BNP leader's bizarre remarks that doctors in West Bengal would be forced to take to the streets with begging bowls in the absence of Bangladeshi patients have evolved strong reactions from Kolkata based doctors. A number of doctors have rubbished the claims made by the Bangladeshi leader saying that it would only have an adverse impact on the Bangladeshis patients who flock to the city hospitals in large numbers to get specialised treatment. With Bangladesh lacking a suitable medical infrastructure to cater to the comprehensive treatment of its nationals, the comments by the BNP leader is totally misleading. With the Government of India imposing severe restrictions on issuing visas to citizens of the neighbouring country, the number of patients from Bangladesh coming to Kolkata for medical assistance has sharply declined and a major...

West Bengal minister propagates theory of Muslim supremacy

Kolkata mayor and West Bengal Urban Development minister Firhad Hakim's nefarious comments at an event in Kolkata where he implied that with the Muslim population in West Bengal at 33 percent and an overall Muslim count of 17 percent overall in the country, the minority community could easily out number the populace of the majority community through the grace of Allah is not only repulsive but speaks of a sinister design to change the demographic nature of India. He also urged those present at the event not to rely on candlelight marches seeking justice for their grievances but increase their population to such an extent so that they can seek redress to their problems. Such fanatic remarks emanating from a minister belonging to the ruling dispensation in West Bengal  which often describes itself as a champion of securalism is totally unwarranted and ought to condemned by all those who portray West Bengal as an oasis of communal harmony. This is not the first instance of Firha...

The nonsensical claims of Bangladesh and Jihadi elements

The ridiculous and somewhat comical utterances by a group of Bangladeshi Army veterans leading an anti India campaign asserting with great force that they were well trained to grab Kolkata in a matter of four days is not only absurd but also points to the lack of understanding about the power of their country's armed forces against India which boasts of a much superior army capable of challenging every major country as far as armed conflict is concerned. This is just a diabolical ploy to whip up anti India sentiments in a bid to provoke the radical Islamists to continue their assault on the minority Hindus of Bangladesh. The widespread sentiments of hatred being exhibited by Jihadi forces in Bangladesh to attack India is really a matter of grave concern. The way in which a religious leader has urged Bangladeshi Musligms to keep lethal weapons in the form of swords ready to butcher Indians is very shocking and points to a sick mindset. His contention that if a Bangladeshi Muslim ca...

Bangladesh and its obnoxious tale of betrayal

The minority Hindu community in Bangladesh has been subjected to unprecedented violence by the Muslim populace which are in a majority, with no signs of the prevailing situation altering for the better in the near future for the Hindus living in constant state of fear and intimidation. The provocative speeches emanating from Bangladesh against India have crossed all limits. The disgraceful and insulting way in which a Bangladesh National Party leader, Rahul Kabir Rizvi has urged the people of Bangladesh to boycott products that are made in India bears testimony to the ungrateful nation's growing hatred towards India. The BNP leader in order to emphatically put forward his point forcefully, set afire to a saree purportedly belonging to his wife which he claimed was an Indian product. The leader also revealed that he was willing to skip a meal everyday if the situation warranted in the event of the people of his country boycotting products coming from India. Such acts of extreme dis...

India and its weak strategy to counter Hindu oppression in Bangladesh

The Indian government's weak response to the persecution and protracted assaults on the Hindu minority community as well as other minority groups in Bangladesh is quite concerning with no concrete strategy emanating from the Indian side to combat the barbarities inflicted on the minorities in a country which is now directly under the control of Islamic radicals. The denial of legal assistance to Chinmoy Krishna Das an ISCKON monk violates the basic principles of  fundamental human rights that an individual is entitled to in a democratic nation. Not a single lawyer dared to fight for Chinmoy Krishna Das in a Bangladesh court following an open threat by a group of Bangladeshi lawyers which stated that any lawyer who represented the ISCKON devotee in the court would face severe consequences and even called for the ISCKON monkk's capital punishment for creating unrest after his unlawful arrest by the Bangladeshi authorities. Such brazen acts of targetting an individual because of...

President of PDP Mehbooba Mufti and her absurd views

Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and President of People's Democratic Front of India, Mehmooba Mufti's observation that the conditions prevailing in Bangladesh and India in terms of persecution of minorities is similar in nature is totally unfortunate and does not speak volumes for the truth that is there for everyone to see. Her irrational comparison of the situation in Bangladesh comes at a time when the minorities in Bangladesh including the Hindus, Sikhs, Christians and Buddhists have been systematically targetted and assaulted by rogue Islamist radicals that are at the helm of affairs in Bangladesh. By comparing the Sambhal incident in which members from the minority community attempted to violate a court ordered survey of a mosque in compliance with the existing law of the land she has only made a mockery of her own statement. Her views that protesters were brutally targetted by the administration for defending their rightful demand of standing up against a tri...

The ominous anti India tirade and conspiracy of Bangladesh to unsettle the country

The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom and Amnesty International's lack of determination in condemning the atrocities committed against the Hindus and other minority communities in Bangladesh is rather unprecedented. While the Hindu monks of ISCKON are facing intimidation and violent assaults with a number of them being arrested, the two vital organisations that are vocal against religious intolerance in other countries are unwilling to censure the Yunus led interim government in Bangladesh for their attacks on minorities for some inexplicable reasons. A noted Bangladeshi academic's recommendation to the Yunus government to procure F 15 fighter jets from Pakistan and support the insurgents in the North East who want to breakaway from the Indian Union is not only dangerous but needs a stringent reprimand and caution from the Indian Government. The Government of India should take adequate security measures to counter these provocative statements and if t...

Yunus the instigator of Bangladesh violence

Bangladesh under the Yunus regime that is continually perpetuating attacks on the minorities in Bangladesh was widely ridiculed after it asserted that minorities were safe in that country even as India conveyed a stern message that the failure of the Bangladeshi government to safeguard the interest of the minority communities was a matter of grave concern. The Ministry of External affairs' condemnation of the atrocities commited by Islamic radicals on the Hindus in Bangladesh has evoked an inexplicable response from the Yunus Government which tried to downplay the gravity of the ongoing situation in Bangladesh. That radical Islamists are dictating terms with the Yunus government is evident from the street protests where religious fanatics have threatened to peel off the skin of all the members who owe allegiance to the religious sect of ISKCON. It is rather disgusting to note that following calls from Islamic  radical  student leaders to ban ISKCON the Bangladesh governm...

EVMs and Opposition parties

The Supreme Court's decision to junk the plea by a petitioner to revert to the practice of using paper ballots instead of the EVM's that were susceptible to malpractice was junked by the Apex Court asserting the procedure for conducting elections in the country was devoid of any irregularities. The Apex Court's judgement is crucial in view of the fact that Congress President Kharge has been emphasising on the need to the use of paper ballots to reduce malpractices in the electoral process. The Supreme Court's cryptic observation that when a party loses it finds flaws with EVM's otherwise they are quite satisfied when on the winning side. Following its electoral success in the preceding Lok Sabha election results the opposition parties did not raise any complaints about the EVMs but after their electoral rout in Maharashtra and the assembly bypolls in several regional constituencies it has once again started blaming the EVM's as in the past. Despite getting a sn...

Barbaric acts by Islamic radicals on Bangladeshi Hindus

The barbaric and heinous attack on Bangladeshi Hindu minorities by the Yunus led government in Bangladesh since the ouster of Sheikh Hasina from power is indeed reprehensible. The way in which Islamist fundamentalists have butchered and sexually assaulted minorities in Bangladesh including Hindus, Sikhs, Christians and Buddhists is totally unacceptable and calls for a stern global response to such acts of criminalities. Yunus wholesale received the Nobel peace prize is ironically at the helm of affairs and continues to remain a mute spectator to the atrocities unleashed by radical elements in Bangladesh. India which liberated Bangladesh from the clutches of Pakistan which tormented and tortured the people of Bangladesh is now witnessing a surge of violence against the Hindus who fought shoulder to shoulder against the Pakistani army as a collective unit under the name of Mukti Joddha a guerrilla outfit that received covert support from the Indian army till the Pakistanis were driv...

The Sambhal violence and rule of law

The violence in Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh is unfortunate considering the fact that it came against the backdrop of a court ruling that granted the Archaeological Survey of India to undertake a study to determine whether a temple existed on the premises of a mosque that was built by a foreign intruder several centuries ago. While the survey was taking place a group of miscreants attacked the team of surveyors that prompted the police to safeguard the officials from the agitated mob which was peeved with the administration's decision to give the go ahead for the survey to continue. The attackers pelted stones at the police with intense ferocity compelling the police to take stringent action in self defence. It is matter of grave concern that instead of relying on the court ordered survey to determine whether a temple existed or not those opposed to the court orders took the law in their hands and resorted to widespread violence. Such acts ought to be universally condemned and no one ...

BJP'S magic in Maharashtra

The BJP'S remarkable accomplishment with its allies in the recently concluded assembly elections in the Maharashtra polls exemplifies the fact that the saffron brigade has emerged strongly after the Lok Sabha and subsequent regional bypolls where it did not gain much momentum as expected.Despite frantic efforts by its chief rival the INDIA alliance alongwith with its associates  trying its best to garner the minority votes, the plot did not yield the desired result. It was once again Modi's charismatic stature that stood in good stead for the Mahayuti alliance. The saffron brigade with its emphasis on the terminology batenge to katenge found reasonable acceptance among the voters. The Mahaagadi combine was unable to counter this narrative successfully and was totally outwitted by the ruling dispensation. The Congress which was brazenly optimistic about queering the pitch fot its arch rivals the BJP with its strategy of exploiting the caste equation and toying with the minori...

Rohingiyas and Bangladeshi infiltrators

Reports of Rohingiya Muslims and infiltrators from Bangladesh stealthily entering Himachal Pradesh is a cause for alarm and apprehension in the popular hill resort of Shimla. The construction of an illegal mosque that gives refugee to the Rohingiya Muslims and Bangladeshi infiltrators has justifiably sparked anger among the residents of Shimla. The fact that the Rohingyas are known for their ferocious nature and their propensity to indulge in criminal activities has created a sense of fear among those residing in Shimla for decades. Reports which suggest that areas around the illegal mosque has witnessed a spurt in crimes including abduction, assault on local businessmen and misdemeanor with womenfolk in recent times was unthinkable even not so long ago. The abject failure of the administration to prevent the unhindered influx of Rohingyas and Bangladeshi infiltrators is indeed despicable. What is surprising is the way these unscrupulous elements evade the se...

The Supreme Court and Dearness Allowance

The decision of the Apex Court to defer the ongoing case linked to the non payment of dearness allowance dues to the employees of the West Bengal government till January 7, 2025 is rather surprising considering the fact that it is connected with the fate of several lakhs of employees who have been deprived of their rightful dues. This particular case stands in sharp contrast to  other cases concerning West Bengal which have been dealt with expeditiously by the topmost Court of the country. The West Bengal government employees have been agitating for quite sometime now and have justifiably been demanding the payment of the Dearness Allowance at par with their central government counterparts. While the majority of the states in the country have hiked the quantum of dearness allowance that it pays to it employees close to what the employees of the central government, West Bengal is the only state where the difference between the dearness allowance it pays to its  employees ...

BJP's pathetic bypoll display

BJP'S debacle in the recently concluded by poll elections that were held across seven states the results of which were declared today clearly shows the dominance of the INDIA block with the alliance bagging ten out the thirteen seats while the BJP and its allies the NDA, the ruling dispensation at the centre could win in only two seats. An independent candidate won the other seat that was up for grabs. The by poll results which come in the wake of the NDA forming the government at the centre for the third time in succession though with a not so resounding a mandate in its favour does not augur well for the saffron brigade and its alliance partners. INDIA blocks ability to consolidate it's position among the electorate in the current political scenario is a clear signal that the Modi-Shah combine has not succeeded in wooing the voters with their poll of strategy. The results are indicative of the growing disillusionment of the voters with the Government's unsatisfactory per...

The Father of the Nation

In an alarming revelation exposing the poor knowledge about the history of Indian independence struggle among the present generation,  a number of youngsters were at their wits end when asked by an interviewer to name who  father of the nation was. Surprisingly none of  those who faced the question could come up with the appropriate reply. The interviewer Ashoke Pandey who questioned the people  he came across at random got ludicrous answers that raised several questions about the quality of education imparted to them by the institutions they studied. The entire question answer session was posted by Ashok Pandey on X which unveiled the gross ignorance of the so called literate section of the society and has raised serious questions about the standard of academic environment where they were taught and nurtured. Those who were questioned regarding the response about the father of the nation came up with weird and ridiculous answers. While a young woman said with a...

To laugh or not to laugh

The decision of the authorities of Yamagata a  town in Northern  Japan making it compulsory for its residents to laugh at least once everyday is rather intersting as it tries to emphasize on the fact that laughter is the best medicine as per traditionally accepted facts. The practice of laughing loudly once a day  was introduced through an ordinance following a study undertaken at a local university  which revealed that there was concrete evidence about the beneficial effects of laughter that was good for cardiovascular functions and overall well being.  The Yamagata University came to the conclusion about the positive effects of laughter following the observations about the fruitful outcome of laughter in a scientific study published in the Journal of Epidemiology. Although the practice of laughing loudly in groups is quite common in many nations for keeping a person in good physical and mental state this is the first time that an ordinance has been passe...

Dating app and the brave mother

The perilous way in which a Kolkata man was abducted after he registered for a dating app and the bitter consequences he faced during the course of his involvement with the dubious app has raised concerns about such fraudulent apps which target people to extract money from them. The unsuspecting youth desirous of spending his time in an enjoyable way befriended a lady who was using a fake profile of which he was not aware and was invited to the women's flat where he was confined and assaulted by several people belonging to the unscrupulous network that wanted to make monetary profits by targetting him. The gang demanded a ransom of Rs one lakh from his mother after calling her up and letting her know about her son's condition. But the mother stood firm  and did not let the threat posed by the criminals unnerve her. She instantly sought the help of the police who instructed her to let her son's abductor know that she was willing to pay for her son's release. As told by ...

The Good Samaritans of Kolkata

The efforts by a group of men sharing identical thoughts, Kolkata We Care, to feed those who find it tough to manage even a single meal a day in the  City of Joy through Food ATMS is really laudable. The novel feature of the endeavour of this organisation is to collect food that people waste at eateries and provide the hungry with the same  to fill their stomach for survival. The organisation launched its first food ATM in Kolkata in 2017 that provide food to nearly fifty people who are not properly fed. Encouraged by the success, the organisation has now decided to extend their food ATMs to other parts of Kolkata so that a greater number of people can be furnished with food which gets wasted unnessarily by those who are oblivious of the fact that there are numerous people who spend the entire day in search of something to put in their mouth and go to bed with hunger. The efforts of 'Kolkata We Care' deserves special praise for providing the hungry with food which is the...
