President of PDP Mehbooba Mufti and her absurd views
Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and President of People's Democratic Front of India, Mehmooba Mufti's observation that the conditions prevailing in Bangladesh and India in terms of persecution of minorities is similar in nature is totally unfortunate and does not speak volumes for the truth that is there for everyone to see. Her irrational comparison of the situation in Bangladesh comes at a time when the minorities in Bangladesh including the Hindus, Sikhs, Christians and Buddhists have been systematically targetted and assaulted by rogue Islamist radicals that are at the helm of affairs in Bangladesh. By comparing the Sambhal incident in which members from the minority community attempted to violate a court ordered survey of a mosque in compliance with the existing law of the land she has only made a mockery of her own statement. Her views that protesters were brutally targetted by the administration for defending their rightful demand of standing up against a trial court decision allowing a survey to be conducted by the Archaeological Survey of India is totally unacceptable as the protestors resorted to violent conduct by attacking the team of surveyors. With her stance equating the situation in Bangladesh with India, the veteran political leader of Jammu Kashmir has only diluted the gravity of the turbulent situation in Bangladesh where Hindus are assaulted and killed on a regular basis by radical Islamic elements with the Yunus government going to the extent of saying that such hostilities against Hindus were baseless despite the fact that a number of members of the Hindu religious groups have been apprehended and put behind bars. Such comments by a so called responsible political figure comes at a time when Hindus in Bangladesh are being tortured in the most brutal manner while the interests of the minority communities in India are safeguarded by the provisions in the Constitution and several political outfits are at liberty to champion their cause by taking recourse to legal means. Before making such statements the PDP leader should have deliberated properly about the consequences of her out of the context statement.
