Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals conducts free eye check up and screening camp at Orphuli village

 Kolkata, October 16: In its continuous endeavour to provide succour and relief to the needy and the underprivileged section of the society, Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals in association with its affiliate unit RCC Kolaghat successfully organised an eye check up and cataract screening camp at Yubosrat Sangha at Orphuli village in Bagnan district on Sunday. The camp commenced at around 11 in the morning and continued till 4 p.m. Nearly 250 individuals from Orphuli village participated in the free eye check up camp. The majority of the villagers who got their eyes tested were the elderly while others belonging to various age groups also took part in the medical procedure.


The members of the Yubosrat Sangha and RCC Kolaghat with guidance from the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals ensured the succesful completion of the entire proceedings. The Panchayat Pradhan of the village lauded the efforts of the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals in rendering the much required assistance to the villagers to keep their vision in a healthy state.Those who represented the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals at the event included Rotarians Anjishnu Biswas, Saudull Abedin and Sanjoy Dutt.

The technical expertise for the camp was provided by the Rotary eye hospital Hooghly following a request by Rotarians Saudull Abedin and Sanjoy Dutt to District Governor Hiralal Yadav. District Governor Hiralal Yadav promptly complied with the plea and issued necessary directives to the eye hospital so that the camp could be organised successfully. While Rotarians Saudull Abedin and Sanjoy Dutt with their active involvement gave shape to the commendable project of the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals, fellow Rotarian Shelley Mehta provided the financial resources for the camp. Out of the approximately 242 individuals who sought medical assistance at the eye camp to enhance their vision 42 people were diagnosed with cataract and advised surgery by team of specialists consisting of technical experts and opthalmologists who examined their eyes. 128 individuals were prescribed spectacles by the team of experts after making necessary adjustments to their state of vision. The spectacles will be provided free of cost to the concerned people and handed over to the club authorities on Thursday. The surgery for cataract too  would be conducted free of cont by Rotary eye hospital Hooghly the schedule for which will be subsequently furnished to the club.
The team of technical experts and opthalmologists from Rotary eye hospital Hooghly included  Animesh Giri, Emarul Ishlam,Tiyasha Adhikari, Papiya Mukherjee, Priyanka Banerjee, Biswajit Ghosh,Manoj Kumar Pal, Anamika Bhattacharya and Nayab Gouha. The team attended to the people who came for vision linked assistance with great competence and sincerity and their overall approach was quite praiseworthy. Only a certain portion of the Orphuli rural populace could be accommodated at the camp while efforts will be made by the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals and its affiliate unit RCC Kolaghat to include more villagers in the ensuing camp likely to be organised in the near future.

DG event of Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals concludes successfully

 


Kolkata, October 11: The District Governor's meet also known as the DG meet of the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals was conducted successfully at the Conclave in Calcutta yesterday.The DG meet is a mandatory event for any Rotary Club and is of great importance for it's members. On this day the District Governor offers his valuable advice to the Rotarians how to go ahead with the plans and programmes of the Rotary Clubs for the welfare of the community. The  DG meet of the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals was presided over by the District Governor Hiralal Yadav with Assistant District Governor Sanjay Dugar in attendance.

The District Governor Hiralal Yadav appreciated the Rotary  Club of Calcutta Royals for their stupendous endeavour to undertake various projects benefitting the society at large. A confidential report was presented by the Assistant Governor Sanjay Dugar about the activities of the club which he obtained after a thorough interaction with the members of the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals which he subsequently related it to the District Governor. Based on his report the District Governor made his observation about the laudable activities of the club which included teaching schedules for the not so fortunate children of the societal order, improving the condition of inmates of correctional homes by furnishing bins for disposal of waste materials, sponsoring a cultural programme at Kolaghat. The District Governor also praised the efforts of the club in organising an eye check up and medical camp at Orphuli village at Bagnan in Howrah district on the 15th of October.
The District Governor urged the members of the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals to continue the good work and make every attempt to make the society a better place to live in.
The District Governor during the course of the meeting also shared some of his thoughts during his association with the Rotary Club. He recalled how he had built an eye hospital from scratch with limited funds. But once he stated the project funds started flowing in and gradually the eye hospital was set up. Afterwards he wondered how he could complete such a big project with limited resources at the initial stage.In this regard he observed that funds were not a constraint in envisioning a project and giving shape to it.
Assistant Director Sanjay Dugar stressed on the fact that members of the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals could contribute towards the development of the the society with their professional expertise and not necessarily always through monetary assistance.
The Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals Charter was handed overto its affiliate Rotary Community Corps, Kolaghat.The Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals has been providing funds to RCC Kolaghat for various programmes undertaken by it.

Kolkata; September 26: In an effort to adhere to its commitment to provide assistance to those in need, Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals today paid a visit to Bal Shiksha Sadan at Park Street. 

The Principal of the school informed the members that there were only seventy students in the school with an average of forty five to fifty students attending classes regularly on a daily basis. Almost all the students come from nearby slums with their parents going out in search of livelihood since the start of the day. The Principal further revealed that there were ten teachers who taught the students in the co-educational primary school.  

Although the school is recognised and aided by the government of West Bengal and provides mid day meal to the students it somewhat has inadequate facilities to cater to some of the crucial needs of the students. The Principal pointed out to the lack of proper facilities for the students to wash their hands after eating their mid day meal. The students wash their hands with water meant for drinking and thus making the basins dirty with food particles blocking the outlet. A separate basin for the students to wash their hands would make the conditions hygienic. Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals is deliberating on the proposal to provide separate washing and drinking systems for the students.

Malini Soans the President of Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals presented educational charts to the Principal of Bal Siksha Sadan.She also presented the Principal with some plants as part of the green and clean initiative of the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals. Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals member Anjishnu Biswas accompanied the President during the visit to the school.

Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals Observes Chartered Day with vow to continue with the good work

 Kolkata, September 24: The Chartered Day of the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals was observed today with great fervour and enthusiasm at the Commune, Chowringhee Terrace, Kolkata. Members who were present on the occasion strongly expressed their strong commitment  to serving the people with determination and selflessness. It was on this day that the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals took a pledge for the betterment of society by engaging in community services for those concerned.Since then under the capable guidance and able leadership of the Rotarians involved with the activities of the club have been relentlessly working to offer community services to the people of concerned section of the society.In this regard several community projects were taken up by the club and successfully executed. Some of the projects which were organised in Kolkata included sustainable teaching programmes, women's empowerment programme, providing kits for ensuring hygiene at correctional homes. The Rotary Royals also sponsored a sit and draw competition at Orphuli village in Kolaghat in association with its associate. The club also undertook a visit to an orphanage in North Kolkata to express their solidarity with the authorities and offered assistance to the inmates.


There are also several projects that are scheduled in the days to come. The foremost being an eye camp on 15th October at Kolaghat to be followed by a blood donation camp in the same area. Several other sustainable projects are in the pipeline that are going to be implemented in due course.

The programme was graced by Assistant District Governor of Rotary Club of Calcutta, Sanjoy Duggar who gave his valuable suggestions about how to successfully take forward the exclusive activities of the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals. 

The programme was conducted by the President of the Club, Malini Soans and attended by Rotarians Shelly Mehta, Neelam Khanna, Indrani Ganguly, Nabarun Bhowmik, Saudull Abedin and Anjishnu Biswas. The members who were present discussed and deliberated on the need to organise and implement greater number of projects for the benefit of those who do not have access to primary benefits. 

The programme concluded with President elect Saudull Abedin delivering the vote of thanks.

Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals lends support to RCC Kolaghat for rural cultural event in Orphuli village

 Kolkata, August 15: In a befitting commemoration of the 77th year of Indian Independence marking the 76th year of  freedom from the bondage of British rule, Orphuli Yubosrat Sangha in association with the RCC Kolaghat and with the dedicated support of the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals organised an exclusive recitation and sit and draw competition for the children of Orphuli village for various age groups. 

The children of the village clad in their best colourful attire as they could afford as per their ability participated in the competition with great enthusiasm and zeal. The children were accompanied by their parents who also enjoyed the proceedings greatly.

Nearly two hundred participants took part in the competition which was efficiently organised by Orphuli Yubosrat Club. Eminent personalities of the village graced the occasion.

Some of the participants showed exceptional talent in reciting poems while others exhibited their extraordinary skill in the sit and draw competition.

Several of the participants preferred to recite poems on the theme of independence while others recited poems composed by some of the greatest poets of Bengal. While a number of participants in the sit and draw contest selected the subject of Indian independence which they portrayed through their paintings others chose to reveal through their paintings different topics that represented different themes.

A large number of  rural folks turned up  to witness the grand event. 

Members of the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals felt that some the participants of this distant village from Kolkata who showed great potential could accomplish exceptional feat if nurtured properly and Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals will sustain its endeavour in this regard by patronizing RCC Kolaghat for their praiseworthy effort.

The event was organised in a pleasant ambience against the backdrop of the  Rupnarayan river and the simplicity of the village folks adding a special charm to the entire programme.

The colourful event came to an end with eminent personalities from Orphuli village and members of the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals distributing prizes to the winners in various categories of the competition in conformity with the different age groups.

President of Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals Malini Soans, Secretary Indranee Ganguly, Treasurer Neelam Khanna, members Chitra Abedin, Saudull Abedin, Sanjoy Dutt, Biswajit Bose and Anjishnu Biswas conferred the honours to the winning participants.

Orphuli Yubosrat Sangha and RCC Kolaghat left no stone unturned in extending a warm reception to the members of the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals in the most laudable manner. A sumptuous lunch with the unique taste of rural Bengal was served to the guests from Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals.

Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals conducts third installation ceremony with great zeal and enthusiasm

Kolkata, August 5: In an event of crucial significance, the third installation ceremony of the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals was held at the Conclave in Kolkata with a great deal of fervor and enthusiasm. Eminent personalities from different walks of life who have contributed notably as Rotarians for the well being of the society at large graced the occasion. The proceedings commenced with the customary lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the District Governor honourable Hiralal Yadav. The outgoing President of Rotary Club Royals Shelley Mehta who worked tirelessly during her tenure as President officially handed over the mantle to the incumbent President Malini Soans. In her speech the former President spoke about the challenges faced by the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals and how the members with their united endeavour overcame the difficulties with grit and determination. She also stressed on the need for greater effort among the Rotarians to work constructively for the betterment of society. Malini Soans the incumbent president spoke about the feats accomplished by the club after she took over the responsibilities earlier as the President from Shelly Mehta, with Indrani Ganguly also dwelling on some of the projects undertaken by her under the aegis of the Club. District Governor Hiralal Yadav a man of great distinction and a stalwart in pioneering social welfare schemes urged fellow Rotarians belonging to the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals and those from other clubs owing allegiance to the Rotary Club to be sincere in their approach in undertaking and completing projects that benefit the society at large. Hiralal Yadav has been serving the Rotary Club with great dedication and sincerity for a considerable period of time. Guest-in-chief Dr Krishnendu Gupta a member of Rotary Club Victoria and a medical professional of immense repute extended his greetings to the members of the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals and urged the members to continue the benevolent work undertaken by them. He thanked Calcutta Royals for inviting him on an occasion of great importance. Dr Nabarun Bhowmik a doctor by profession and member of the Rotary Club Calcutta Royals conducted the proceedings in an excellent manner by virtue of his oratorial skill. President elect Saudull Abedin delivered the vote of thanks by appreciating the presence of the Rotarian luminaries and being a vital part of the installation ceremony. Rakesh Bhatia a veteran Rotarian and a member of Rotary Club Belur who has been acting as the advisor to the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals also made a few important observations during the course of the proceedings. Chitra Abedin,Sunil Chowdhury, Santosh Chowdhury, Geeta Bhatia and Anjishnu Biswas were formally inducted into the Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals team by District Governor Hiralal Yadav who encouraged the members to try to live up to the expectation of a Rotarian in the true sense of the term. Rotary Club Calcutta Royals successfully concludes meeting

Kolkata,July 2: In a significant meeting organised by the Rotary Club of Royals Calcutta today ,the members of the club pledged their committment to accomplish the objectives of the club with greater enthusiasm and vigour. The members expressed their strong commitment for the well being of the society and make contributions towards the betterment of the general populace in need of help. The meeting was organised by incumbent President Malini Sonas who took over charge from her predecessor Shelley Mehta who worked with great enthusiasm to support the needy and the deprived. Malini Soans exhibited a great deal of zeal by urging the members present to strive hard for a greater cause. Neelam Khanna took over the reponsibilty of the new treasurer fron Sanjoy Dutt who performed his job with great capability Several well fare programmes aimed at alleviating the hardship of those affected were chalked out.A medical check up for the inmates of an orphanage was mooted which is likely to be implemented in the near future. Another programme to furnish necessary funds to a school according to their needs was also delberated at length. During the course of the meeting Dr Nabarun Bhowmik and Sanjay Dutta were felicitated on the occasion of Doctor's Day and Chartered Accountant's Day respectively. Members who were present incuded Saudull Abedin, Dr Nabarun Bhowmik,Sonjay Dutt,Malini Soans,Shelley Mehta,Neelam Khanna.

She made one attempt in high school and now has developed a better plan to take her own life. Imagine how hard it would be to help Taye through this difficult time to potentially save her life. Even the slightest mistake could have significant consequences. Fortunately, Taye is only a role-player, but mental health providers need to be able to help individuals like her. As part of their education, they can sit in PowerPoint lectures, read books, and watch videos on working with people with mental health challenges. They will also work with other providers during their clinical residency to build their skills. But often that education is not sufficient to build all the required skills. Fortunately, clinicians can now develop these skills in a risk-free environment by practicing with virtual role-players. Suicide Intervention Just like a real person idealizing suicide, role-player Taye is not always at high risk; she may be at moderate risk, or even at low risk with no specific active thoughts of suicide. Additionally, her risk factors can vary which creates a wide variety of training experiences for mental health providers allowing for increased skill development and refinement. She is one of three virtual role-players that mental health providers can practice counseling sessions focused on suicide interventions. Candidates must get their clients to agree to be recorded during a session and then they select the sessions they want to submit for certification. There are many issues with this approach, but up to now, it has been the only one available. SIMmersion has recently developed six virtual role-players designed specifically to evaluate provider’s skills at applying CBT associated with both Cognitive Restructuring and Exposure for Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, and Social Anxiety Disorder. UNITED KINGDOM, May 2:Changes to the price of Microsoft Bing’s application programming interface (API), which provides search results for a range of well-known alternative search engines, such as DuckDuckGo, Yahoo! and Ecosia, threaten the future of many of Microsoft’s search partners and competitors. From 1st May 2023, there will be significant increases to the costs incurred by those using any Bing API products: search, images, news, videos, visual, entity, spell check and autosuggest. Costs per query are going up as much as 10x in some cases. The lowest price Web Search costs will rise from $3 per thousand queries, to $15. According to Bloomberg, Microsoft also told two unnamed search engines that it doesn’t want their chatbots to leverage its index in March, threatening to remove their API access. Companies wishing to use Bing API results alongside their own Large Language Model will have to pay higher prices; at least $28 per thousand queries, with a dramatic increase to $200 per thousand for more than 1 million requests per day. To justify these massive price increases, the Microsoft Bing Search API webpage states: “We periodically assess the value and pricing of our services to meet market demands and align the pricing of our products and services with customer consumption trends and preferences. The new pricing model reflects more accurately the technology investments Bing continues to make to improve Search.” Colin Hayhurst, CEO of non-tracking search engine, www.mojeek.com, stated: “Though we are deeply concerned by this move by Microsoft, we have been anticipating it. As a UK -based but international and authentically-independent search engine, Mojeek is a genuine alternative to Bing. As a result, we have seen a significant increase in interest for our own web search API.” “With a unique and proprietary search index of nearly 7-billion pages we can provide search data for use in metasearch engines, as well as machine learning and artificial intelligence applications. We stand ready to help those organisations that cannot afford these unjustified price hikes by providing them with a fairly-priced API,” continued Hayhurst. “By increasing the API prices to such a degree, Microsoft has decided pick to a fight with Google through changing the form of their search duopoly. Now these companies are being exploited for profit, and neutered in their efforts to develop products that challenge Bing Chat and GPT from their new partner OpenAI.” “The Bing price changes will adversely affect search engines which do not have their own search indexes, traditionally referred to as metasearch engines or search proxies. The ease of using Bing’s API has created a range of different metasearch engines which all depend upon Bing but offer extra functionality. Those focusing on protecting user privacy, such as in the case of DuckDuckGo and Qwant; and navigators which use ad revenues for charitable causes, such as Ecosia and Lilo, will all be affected. Nearly Half of Executives Expect More Accounting System Breaches

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, UNITED STATES, May 1:In February, the Deloitte Center for Controllership released findings from a poll of more than 1,100 C-suite and other executives that showed nearly half (48.8%) fully expect the number and the size of cybersecurity attacks targeting their own organizations’ accounting and financial data to increase this year. However, that same survey showed fewer than one-fourth (20.3%) said their accounting and finance teams work closely and consistently with their colleagues in cybersecurity. Additional findings include: *34.5% of organizations reported experiencing cyber events targeting their accounting and financial data within the past year. *11.1% reported their cyber and accounting/finance teams do not work together at all. *However, 39.5% said this year, they will increase the amount of time accounting/finance teams work with cybersecurity teams. The news is particularly concerning to accountants and CPAs who work closely with sensitive financial data and usually perform that work using complex software. Additionally, IRS regulations require accounting firms to have a written information security policy (WISP) in place, and the FTC Safeguard Rules also have at least eight specific requirements that must be met within the policy and its accompanying procedures by June 9. 2023. To help organizations meet the FTC guidelines and the IRS regulations, the Center for Accounting Transformation is offering its Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) Protection program, which begins with creating a policy to ensure IRS and FTC compliance, then continues to determine how to incorporate the appropriate technology. “For some firms, this is done in collaboration with their existing IT service provider,” said Alisa Nishimoto, PMP, a project manager for the Center. “However, every firm is different, and for those who need more comprehensive support and technology, packages can be customized to achieve any level of support needed. “The goal of the SOHO Protection Package is to empower small accounting firms with enterprise level cyber protection and peace of mind at an affordable price.” The program includes three tiers: Do-IT-Yourself, Guided and Proactive. The Do-IT-Yourself program includes workstation protection, phishing testing and training, Office 365 backup setup and a SOHO information security policy template.
