India and its weak strategy to counter Hindu oppression in Bangladesh

The Indian government's weak response to the persecution and protracted assaults on the Hindu minority community as well as other minority groups in Bangladesh is quite concerning with no concrete strategy emanating from the Indian side to combat the barbarities inflicted on the minorities in a country which is now directly under the control of Islamic radicals. The denial of legal assistance to Chinmoy Krishna Das an ISCKON monk violates the basic principles of  fundamental human rights that an individual is entitled to in a democratic nation. Not a single lawyer dared to fight for Chinmoy Krishna Das in a Bangladesh court following an open threat by a group of Bangladeshi lawyers which stated that any lawyer who represented the ISCKON devotee in the court would face severe consequences and even called for the ISCKON monkk's capital punishment for creating unrest after his unlawful arrest by the Bangladeshi authorities. Such brazen acts of targetting an individual because of his religious affiliation is totally unacceptable in any civilised society. With no lawyer to defend the Hindu religious leader who tried to mobilize protests against the violence unleashed by radical Islamic elements, the saint  will now have to spend a month behind bars on charges of sedition. India's defensive approach in terms of diplomacy and its inability to send a strong message to Bangladesh on the regular atrocities and sexual abuse perpetrated by radical elements backed by the Bangladeshi government on the minority communities is rather inexplicable. The Bangladeshi government in comparison has been extremely aggressive and called the Indian ambassador in Dhaka for an explanation with regards to the protests that rocked the Bangladesh embassy in Tripura as a spontaneous reaction to the brutality committed against the Hindus in the neighbouring country where Muslims far outnumber the Hindus as far as population is concerned. In a desperate bid to ensure the survival of its followers ISCKON has issued a directive urging its followers to conceal their identity by refraining from wearing the saffron attire which is a vital symbol of their adherence to the beliefs and teachings of ISCKON. Such is the predicament of the Hindus in Bangladesh that none belonging to Hindu minority can stay without the fear of being targetted and assaulted at will. The incompetence of the Indian government in ensuring the safety of the Hindus in Bangladesh is rather disconcerting with the NDA led government unable to stand by the persecuted Hindus in their period of crises. This is in stark contrast to the  robust stance taken by two  British members of Parliament who have raised serious concerns and demanded a statement from their Foreign secretary David Lammy about the situation in Bangladesh. While Prity Patel a member of the Conservative party and Barry Gardiner a member of the ruling Labour party voiced their strong objection to the targetted assault on the Hindus, the Indian government's weak assessment of the situation and subsequent action to alleviate the sufferings of the Hindu minorities in Bangladesh is quite disappointing and has been widely criticised by leading bureaucrats in the Indian Government as well as political analysts who have urged the nation for stringent action against the neighbouring nation where there is total lawlessness with the situation assuming alarming proportions as days go by. Unless and until the Government of India formulates a comprehensive strategy to counter the prevailing turmoil in Bangladesh the Hindus will continue to suffer in silence.
