Global Mobile Economy Report 2022 confirms continued 5G momentum Launching today, the annual Global Mobile Economy Report reveals continued momentum in 5G adoption, with the total number of 5G connections expected to reach 1 billion in 2022, as usage grows rapidly in pioneer markets. The report highlights the mobile industry's instrumental role in extending connectivity to people worldwide. In the last decade, network infrastructure investment by operators shrunk the coverage gap from a third of the global population to just 6%, but there is more to be done. The adoption of mobile internet services has not kept pace with the expansion of network coverage. Despite living within the footprint of a mobile broadband network, 3.2 billion people, or 41% of the global population, are not using the mobile internet. The reasons for this usage gap vary by region and include lack of affordability and skills. These barriers to mobile internet adoption impact the most vulnerable segments of the population, including women, the elderly, people in rural areas, and persons with disabilities. Other key findings include: By the end of 2025, 5G will account for around a quarter of total mobile connections, and more than two in five people worldwide will live within reach of a 5G network. In 2021, mobile technologies and services generated $4.5 trillion of economic value, equating to 5% of global GDP. The report predicts that this will grow to $5 trillion in 2025. As 5G adoption accelerates in leading markets such as China, South Korea, and the US, 4G begins to decline. Globally, 4G adoption will account for 55% of total connections by 2025, down from a peak of 58% in 2021. But 4G still has room to grow in most developing markets. For example, in Sub-Saharan Africa, 4G adoption is below a fifth of total connections. 5.3% billion people subscribed to mobile services, representing 67% of the global population, by the end of 2021. In a growing number of markets, most adults now own a mobile phone, meaning that future growth will come from younger populations taking out a mobile subscription for the first time. The report also highlights the vital role that mobile technology will play in accelerating progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) ahead of the UN's deadline in 2030. These include increasing access to education, healthcare and addressing poverty and inequality. Additionally, the report outlines a set of policy recommendations for achieving a resilient post-pandemic recovery. This involves investing in digital skills training, utilising public funds for connectivity, adopting a balanced approach to collecting revenues through taxes and fees in the mobile sector, and prioritising digital transformation in government services. The GSMA Ministerial Programme is back The GSMA Ministerial Programme welcomes more than 160 international delegations participating in this year's discussions to support the SDGs and other critical issues. Senior policymakers, regulators, industry leaders and government officials will discuss closing the digital gap, meeting global climate targets, building policies for a digital world, and maximising the potential of 5G. BOSTON and MUNICH, Feb. 28: Abusix, a network security company for mail security and abuse report handling, takes over blocklist.de to integrate it within its Abusix platform to further improve its data quality. Blocklist.de is based on the popular open-source intrusion prevention framework fail2ban, which is part of almost every Linux distribution in the market. It is widely used to protect systems from simple brute force attacks, by logging intrusion attempts on a variety of available services and blocking IPs based on too many authentication failures. "Blocklist.de, in addition to fail2ban, offers a way to share information about intrusion attempts with other users of the service to improve coverage," says Martin Schiftan, founder of blocklist.de. "In addition, we report those intrusion attempts back to the network operator in question for proper abuse management." Martin Schiftan started blocklist.de in 2006 and grew the service to several thousand users, processing hundreds of thousands of security events per day. While running multiple projects, Martin Schiftan realized that he could not prioritize every single project the same. As blocklist.de is already using Abusix's ContactDB and the reporting format XARF, the decision to ask Abusix to take over blocklist.de was set. "Having a similar mindset and sharing the same ideas about improving the internet, it was a pretty easy decision from our side to integrate blocklist.de into our Abusix services," states Tobias Knecht, founder and CEO of Abusix. LONDON, Feb. 28: International Game Technology PLC (NYSE:IGT) ("IGT") today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary IGT Lottery S.p.A. has signed a definitive agreement to sell its Italian proximity payment business to PostePay S.p.A. – Patrimonio Destinato IMEL for €700 million. Under the agreement, IGT will be selling LIS Holding S.p.A. and indirectly LISPAY S.p.A. These two wholly owned subsidiaries conduct IGT's proximity payment business, which has been the leader in the Italian proximity payments market, offering services through a fully owned advanced payment technology platform and a network of 54,000 points of sale. Services offered range from payments services including bill payments and prepaid payment cards to commercial services providing telco and e-vouchers top up and technological solutions including merchant and enterprise services. "This transaction provides us with an opportunity to monetize IGT's market leadership in the Italian proximity payment business at an attractive value as we continue to execute our long-term strategy," said Vince Sadusky, IGT CEO. "Streamlining our products and solutions portfolio enables us to focus our efforts and resources on our core and strategic assets, as we position IGT for industry leadership and increased shareholder value." The sale price represents an enterprise value of €630 million and approximately €70 million of net unrestricted cash. SANDPOINT, ID, UNITED STATES, February 27: Health Freedom Defense Fund (HFDF) and individual plaintiffs filed a motion asking a federal court in Tampa, Florida to strike down the Biden administration’s federal mask mandate for airlines, interstate transportation, and travel hubs. (Case No. 8:21-cv-1693-KKM-AEP) Plaintiffs’ attorney, Brant Hadaway of Davillier Law Group (DLG), argues that while CDC does have the authority to abate sources of infection from animals and things, it does not have the statutory authority from Congress to require people to wear masks. To wit, the Supreme Court has ruled that the statute CDC relies on to claim this power only authorizes the CDC to isolate and destroy the disease itself. DOJ attorneys for CDC argue that masks are a form of sanitation and therefore fall under CDC’s authority but CDC’s own regulations show that “sanitation” doesn’t apply to people, and that masks are not “sanitation.” In a revelation that will likely stun most Americans, CDC relied on inconclusive data regarding the efficacy of masks absent a single controlled trial in the administrative record. Health Freedom Defense Fund president Leslie Manookian said, “I am shocked and outraged that CDC would issue a policy requiring Americans to cover their two and only airways on the basis of inconclusive data and not one single controlled trial in what can only be described as a blatant dereliction of their duty and responsibility to Americans.” In an earlier stipulation to the court, DOJ attorneys for CDC admitted that the federal government has never once fined, jailed, or other penalized a single individual for failing to wear a mask while traveling. CDC relied on the same statute under which they claim authority to mandate masks to issue an eviction moratorium mandate and a conditional sailing order for the cruise industry. In both of those cases, courts rebuked CDC for usurping the law-making power and authority of Congress. Additionally, while CDC attempted to justify the mask mandate claiming their intention to prevent interstate spread, this argument never made sense as by the time the rule was enacted, COVID had already spread throughout the country. A 12-foot, 2-tier polished silver raceway chandelier with down-washed LED-lighted crystals hangs over a custom-built 54.5-inch-wide pit stand by TCMillwork with a 3form backlit "Swept Gold" front panel. The High Limit Asian Games Room's front façade features satin gold metal screens and crystal column wall sconces. The space is furnished with LED televisions with brushed gold frames, Gary Platt Monaco Baccarat chairs, and Phillip Jeffries wallpaper. High Limit Lounge A private VIP lounge is available for guests of the High Limit Rooms to relax or make private phone calls. The ceiling is clad with gold mirror panels, and three LED televisions with brushed gold frames embellish the walls. The space features furnishings and decorative pieces by Jonathan Adler, Caracole, and LuxeDecor, as well as a Human Touch Gravis Zero Gravity massage chair. Linh Ventura, Designer hired for the project, states, "We were faced with challenges due to the supply chain shortages from aluminum to bar equipment. But none of this stopped us. Working with the incredible Jamul team led by Facilities Director Kaui Kalahiki, eGads, 3form, and Cell Construction, we were able to come up with outstanding solutions to keep the renovation moving without compromising quality and overall vision for this project." Continued Tribal Investment Since Jamul Casino opened in October 2016, the Jamul Indian Village has continued to invest in renovating and elevating the facility. In February 2019, Jamul Casino opened its Poker Room and has hosted some of the game's top players. In July 2020, the Casino added The Rooftop, which has become one of East County San Diego's top destinations for weddings and events. LAS VEGAS, Feb. 27: The celebration of the Black History Month is an opportunity for the "Back To Kama" project's team to intensify their actions and promote the return of Africans and African descendants back to Africa (Kama.) Black History being rightfully celebrated throughout the United Stated, should highlight the hidden history of Africans and promote the great civilizations of their continent of origin. For Gbedia Dodo, PhD, leader of the "Back to Kama" project, "Black History Month shouldn't only be a celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time to recognize their central role in U.S. history, but it should also be a time to unveil and reconnect with our hidden and powerful history of Kama before its pillage and violation by europeans. True history teaches us that Kama had prestigious kingdoms and universities like the one of Timbuktu, way before universities emerged in Europe. We also now know that the art of writing, architecture, mathematics, medicine and more, also originated in Kama. Hence, Kama being the cradle of civilization is no longer debatable, and yet this truth needs to be widely known by the mainstream. "Our project wants to encourage all African nations to look at the economic and societal benefits of the return of the African diaspora and to not only offer them free visas and the rights to abode." "Back To Kama" also encourages the welcoming of black prisoners freed from the US prison system. "For example, Canada and Australia were built on the import of European prisoners. Knights of Columbus Makes Pledge to Ukraine, Sets Goal of Initial $2 Million in Aid

NEW HAVEN, Conn., Feb.27: The Knights of Columbus today announced a commitment of $1 million for immediate distribution to support Ukrainian refugees, including Ukrainian Knights and their families impacted by the recent Russian invasion of their country. The organization has also launched the Ukraine Solidarity Fund, an international fundraising campaign among its members that will match all funds raised up to an additional $500,000. In a message to Knights around the world, Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly encouraged the organization's more than 2 million members to respond with continued prayers and material support. "The situation in Ukraine is dire and worsening. The people of Ukraine and our brother Knights in that nation need our help," the supreme knight wrote. The relief funding will be used to provide shelter, food, medical supplies, clothing and religious goods, as well as other humanitarian needs as identified, both directly in Ukraine and through refugee sites in Poland. The Knights will work with both the Latin and Greek Catholic Churches in Ukraine, with dioceses and K of C councils in Poland, and with international humanitarian aid agencies to address needs quickly and effectively. Should fundraising efforts exceed immediate needs, consideration will be given to assist widows and orphans of brother Knights killed as a result of military action, and for assistance in resettlement and rebuilding for communities displaced by conflict and war. In a video message to the more than 1,800 Knights of Columbus in Ukraine, Supreme Knight Kelly said, "In this time of intense danger, know that your brother Knights of Columbus around the world are praying for you, your families and all the people of Ukraine. We ask that our Lord protect you and your loved ones and restore peace in your land. We ask that he give you strength and courage to persevere."
