SC Johnson Persists with its Long-Standing Dedication to Fortify Communities in Developing Nations
RACINE, Wis., March 24: Over four billion people reside in
the bottom of the globe's fiscal pyramid and subsist on below $1,500 dollars
yearly. These families are deprived of access to necessary goods and
facilities, where daily trials can be as unassuming as obtaining clean water.
Provided this level, SC Johnson, the global producer of reliable household
customer goods, has been sustaining these communities for approximately two
decades, by giving supportable trade models to enhance the level of subsistence
and deliver prospects for a superior quality of life.
"The company is dedicated to improving lives for
families around the world in communities of all sizes as well as socio-economic
levels," revealed Fisk Johnson, Chairman and CEO of SC Johnson, adding,
"With this new pilot program in Rwanda, we are enthusiastic to participate
in a new business model which supports female entrepreneurs, while at the same
time offering affordable products and disease prevention education."
Currently, SC Johnson recommences its endeavors in Rwanda
with a novel pilot program planned to back female businesspersons to bring scholastic
facts and reasonably priced mosquito repellents, together with other trade and facilities,
to families with extremely restricted access. Ever since 2007, SC Johnson's
Base of the Pyramid (BoP) endeavors in Rwanda alone have extended from functioning
with local agriculturalists for more efficient farming and economic administration
practices, to overseeing in-field exercise and user-centered exploration to propel
social transformation and fiscal enablement.
SC Johnson has joined forces with The Coca-Cola Company,
Solarkiosk, and Society for Family Health Rwanda as a component of the
EKOCENTER program, which delivers reliable drinking water, cleanliness, solar
energy, and wireless communication. EKOCENTERS are segmental retail
experiences, administered by women workers that deliver commerce of necessary goods
comprising of mosquito repellent lotion, Baygon® mosquito coils, and KIWI® shoe
polish. EKOCENTERS furthermore present a location for community assembly and
for businesspersons to set up trade.
Furthermore, SC Johnson, in cooperation with Society for
Family Health Rwanda, will employ a communication movement concentrated on
malaria education and product consciousness in adjoining communities. Actions
will comprise peer learning, community utilization, and events with product demos
and sampling.
"I am witnessing first-hand the positive impact on
these Rwandan communities with the addition of SC Johnson's pest control
products," commented Wandera Gihana Manasseh, Executive Director, Society
for Family Health Rwanda, adding, "Together with SC Johnson, we are
filling a big gap in malaria prevention in the region. We are glad to be
underway with our behavior change communication, as it requires a combination
of products and education which provides citizens with insect protection both
before going to bed and during sleeping hours."
