National Cyber Security Awareness Month; Countdown Starts
WASHINGTON, September 5; National Cyber Security Awareness
Month (NCSAM) 2017 is rapidly advancing. Currently in its 14th year, Oct. 1 commemorates
the beginning of this yearly episode devoted to retelling all digital residents
and companies that safeguarding the internet is "Our Shared
Responsibility," and that everybody plays a significant responsibility in encouraging
a securer internet.
An extensive, powerful and increasing movement, NCSAM was
co-founded and is co-led by the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) and the
U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The month's chief objective is to give
internet clients and companies with the data and devices they require to be securer
as well as safer online and to teach them on how to safeguard private facts in
today's extremely linked globe.
Everybody can link in and be a component of the rather large
by becoming a NCSAM 2017 Champion – groups as well as persons that have formally
signed on to sustain the month. NCSAM Champions reinforce and improve the superior
endeavor by extending the word about online security at home, at work and in the
society and by presenting NCSAM Partner Events. Up to the present time, nearly
500 administrative Champions and over 215 persons are paving the track to make
NCSAM 2017 the most effective yet. Champions obtain weekly emails throughout
October with accessible materials – for example infographics, memes and sample
social media posts – to stay encompassed with the month's actions. This year, groups
that become Champions will also have the prospect to co-brand an action or commitment
they may be scheming as a NCSAM Partner Event.
"Early NCSAM involvement is greater than ever before.
The basis of NCSAM's success is the high level of collaboration among industry,
government, academia and nonprofit organizations nationwide. And, this year,
our network supporters and their active involvement have grown
tremendously," stated Michael Kaiser, NCSA's executive director, adding,
"NCSA and DHS strongly urge all organizations to protect themselves and
all internet users by taking simple, actionable steps this October and throughout
the year. Only by working together and sharing the responsibility to educate
different groups about online safety, security and privacy will we make a
dramatic difference in protecting the internet."
NCSA's essential messaging movement ‒ dispersed steadily during
October and year-round ‒ is STOP. THINK. CONNECT. Easy and actionable guidance
for each digital resident. STOP: make certain safety actions are in place.
THINK: about the outcomes of your activities and conducts online. CONNECT: and relish
the internet. STOP. THINK. CONNECT.is a worldwide online safety understanding and
learning movement with hundreds of associate organizations throughout the globe.
STOP. THINK. CONNECT. was co-founded by
NCSA and the Anti-Phishing Working Group and is augmented by means of an associate
network of nearly 700 groups that assimilate the movement into their learning
and understanding endeavors and share the communication in their societies.
