Applied DNA Enters into Cooperative Exploration and Expansion Deal with U.S. Army to Review Commercialization of Swift In-Field DNA Recognition Expertise
STONY BROOK, N.Y September 12: Applied DNA Sciences,( Inc.),
is pleased to reveal the signing of a Cooperative Research and Development
Agreement (“CRADA”) with the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering
Command’s Edgewood Chemical Biological Center (“ECBC”) to review the
commercialization of ECBC’s state-of-the-art swift, in-field DNA microarray expertise
for utilization in military as well as business supply chains. ECBC is the country’s
chief Department of Defense (“DoD”) specialized exploration organization for
non-medical chemical along with biological warfare protection.
Under the stipulations of the CRADA, a joint endeavor under
the newly-revealed Defense Logistics Agency Rapid Innovation Fund award obtained
by Applied DNA in June 2017, ECBC’s substance matter specialists and Applied
DNA’s science group will jointly review the viability of commercializing ECBC’s
in-field DNA recognition expertise in diverse supply chains. ECBC’s hand-held
in-field DNA microarray knowledge permits detection of a DNA taggant within some
minutes. The mission objective is to validate the system with Applied DNA’s
taggants presented into normal inks or varnishes or onto other planes, devoid
of the requirement for DNA augmentation or other sample preparation, thus significantly
streamlining in-field DNA recognition.
