Yogajog Bhawan , Administrative Office of Postal Department Gripped by Fear as two test Positive for Covid 19

Kolkata, July 13 : With the Covid 19 cases in West Bengal reaching the 30,000 mark and a number of employees of both private as well as government offices being affected by the virus, authorities of several private and government offices have decided to keep their organisations open. While a top executive of a private company who refused to be named told this correspondent that they had decided to keep their offices open restricting the area of operation so that the employees are not exposed to the threat of Covid 19.Another key official who enjoys a prestigious position in a private organisation observed that employees above the age of 50 were asked to work in limited numbers while the majority of the work were being carried out by employees below the age of 50. Ironically Yogayog Bhavan in Kolkata which is the administrative office of the Bengal circle under the aegis of the Postal Department of India has asked all employees irrespective of their ages to report for work. This despite the fact that two employees of Yogayog Bhavan, Kolkata tested positive for Covid 19 within a short span of time. After the first Covid 19 case was detected at Yogayog Bhavan the authorities decided to keep the office shut for two days for fumigation and sanitizing the office. But when the second employee with Covid 19 was detected today the authorities decided to keep the office open. This has made the employees panicky and scared and has exposed them to the threat of the dreaded Covid 19 virus. An employee whom this correspondent met was visibly shaken following the incident and expressed her helplessness at the turn of events. Expressing apprehension she said that it was rather strange that the authorities have decided to keep the office open despite being aware of the fact that the virus is extremely contagious in nature. A city doctor who is a virologist explained once a person in an office is affected and the administration does not intervene and decides to keep the entire office open this could lead to disastrous consequences. He further added that while some sections needs to be closed to limit the area of operation and curb the spread of the virus keeping an entire office open under such circumstances was alarming.
