Malini Soans completes her tenure as President of Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals

 Kolkata June 15: Malini Soans the President of Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals on Sundal evening successfully completed her year long tenure as President of the prestigious club at the International Club in Kolkata on Sunday. Malini Soans who took charge as President of Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals in June 2023 gave a noble direction to the club by encouraging and inspiring the members of the club to undertake meaningful projects for societal well being. A number of projects aimed at alleviating the sufferings of the underprivileged were completed with due competence during her term. The welfare project for the children from the lower stratum of the society at Bal Vidya Mandir in Park Street needs special mention. The school run by the Calcutta Corporation lacked adequate and proper facility form drinking water for the children of this primary school and it was under Malini's guidance and cooperation from other members of the club the children got an opportunity to get clean drinking water for themselves. Efforts were sincerely made to improve the surroundings of the school by providing them with outdoor plants. Teaching aids were also distributed as incentives to these children who live in extremely impoverished conditions in the neighbouring areas. The parents of these children work as domestic help or are daily wage earners or engaged in myriad professions that do not offer much promise. Other programmes which were successfully completed during Malini's term in office included the eye check up camp at Orphuli village in Kolaghat, West Bengal. Free spectacles were distributed to the needy  after the necessary eye check up was done by expert optometrists. A number of people were advised to get their cataract operated which was done in due course at the behest of Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals. Several tree plantation programmes were as well  undertaken during the period when Malini was the President of the club. Those who were present at the programme today lauded Malini Soans for her ability to gel the team into a fine unit and enabling the members to work for the betterment of the society. Malini tried her best to furnish all sorts of assistance to make the projects undertaken during her presidency fruitful in the true sense of the term. Kudos to the outgoing President of Rotary Club of Calcutta Royals for chipping in with immense contribution and efforts to glorify the activities of the club.

APWG REPORT: Phishing Assaults Double in 2020 and October Breakd All-Time Monthly Records

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Feb. 9: The APWG's new Phishing Activity Trends Report shows that the number of phishing assaults witnessed by APWG members increased during 2020, wholly doubling over the course of the year. Attacks topped in October 2020, with a high of 225,304 new phishing sites appearing in that month alone, breaking all earlier monthly records. In Brazil, security firm Axur saw a slower growth in the number of phishing attacks that targeted Brazilian companies and consumers in Brazil. But overall, Axur observed almost twice as many such phishing sites in 2020 as it did in 2019, a concerning year-over-year growth. APWG contributor OpSec Security found that phishing that targeted financial institutions was the largest category of phishing in the fourth quarter, at 22.5 percent of all attacks.
